About the job

Lead ML Platform Engineer - Mostly Remote with travel (Texas location)

A company who are building one of the world's largest advanced energy and AI facilities in Texas - an integrated grid combining nuclear, gas, and solar power with hyperscale computing infrastructure are looking for a Lead ML Platform Engineer to join their team.

What will I be doing:

You'll serve as the hands-on technical lead responsible for transforming broad, ambiguous business challenges into reliable ML-powered systems. You'll own the complete ML infrastructure - data access, training/evaluation frameworks, deployment pipelines, and the controls that manage costs and prevent failures.

Projects will span both operational and business-facing challenges: optimizing facility layouts, predictive maintenance on high-volume time-series data, retrieval-heavy workflows for engineering documentation, and company-wide information systems that surface insights from contracts, insurance, and financial data. You'll begin with business requirements, scope practical solutions, and integrate proprietary systems with existing tools where appropriate.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong Machine Learning experience: pipelines, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring
  • Experience building inference systems that scale and degrade gracefully, with monitoring, rollback capabilities, and cost management
  • Experience implementing practical model governance - versioning, drift detection, safety checks - that enables speed without bureaucracy
  • Ability to define hiring strategy; recruit and mentor senior engineers capable of owning core platform components
  • Ability to operate as a self-starter: identify high-impact opportunities, combine custom ML with existing tools, and advance projects with minimal supervision

What's in it for You

  • Competitive salary of $250,000 - $400,000 dependent on experience
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of energy and AI
  • Build and lead a world-class ML engineering team from the ground up
  • Remote-first culture with travel to state-of-the-art facilities
  • Direct impact on America's energy infrastructure and AI capabilities
