About the job

Lead ML Platform Engineer

Acceler8 Talent is partnered with a groundbreaking company operating at the intersection of large-scale infrastructure and machine intelligence. This team is building the data and compute backbone for one of the most ambitious projects in the U.S., and they’re seeking a Lead ML Platform Engineer to join as one of the earliest technical hires.

The Role

You’ll own the ML stack end-to-end — from data access and pipelines to training, evaluation, deployment, and observability. Early projects will span both operations and business problems, including predictive maintenance on time-series data, optimization of physical systems, retrieval-heavy workflows on engineering documents, and company-wide information retrieval tools.

You’ll scope pragmatic solutions, blending custom models with off-the-shelf services, and put in place the guardrails that keep systems reliable, scalable, and cost-effective. Over time, you’ll also define the hiring vision and grow a senior engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the ML platform: pipelines, training, deployment, monitoring.
  • Deliver high-impact ML systems across optimization, predictive modeling, and document intelligence.
  • Establish reproducible training/evaluation with clear success metrics.
  • Implement pragmatic governance: versioning, drift detection, safety checks.
  • Define hiring roadmap; recruit and mentor senior engineers.
  • Partner with business and operations teams to ship production-ready solutions.

About You

  • Strong background in software engineering and applied ML.
  • Experience delivering production ML systems across diverse data types.
  • Product-minded: start with business needs, then select the right technical path.
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on engineering with long-term architecture.

Why Join?

This is a rare chance to be the founding ML engineer for a generational project — owning the platform from day one and shaping how critical infrastructure connects to the future of AI.
