About the job

🚀 Senior LLM Research Scientist

Location: Offices in SF and Redwood City, CA

 Salary: $200-300k base

About us:

We’re building AI systems with general physical ability, models that can experiment, engineer, and manufacture. With deep technical roots and progress at scale (including work tied to a $42M NIH initiative), we’re pushing the frontier of physical AI. We’re hiring a Senior LLM Research Scientist to build planning, reasoning, and structured tool-use models for autonomous engineering agents, spanning research through real-world toolchain deployment.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop models and prompting frameworks for planning, tool use, and long-horizon reasoning
  • Lead SFT, RLHF/DPO, verifier-guided RL, and MoE routing strategies to improve agent robustness
  • Design schemas, tool-call policies, safety constraints, and failure recovery mechanisms for LLM agents
  • Collaborate across agent systems, data infrastructure, simulation, and tooling teams to train and evaluate models in real workflows

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep experience in LLM research, reasoning models, agent systems, or structured tool-use frameworks
  • Strong background in SFT, RLHF, DPO, or verifier-guided RL, with a track record of pushing model capabilities
  • Ability to design and evaluate long-horizon behaviours, decomposition strategies, and structured policy constraints
  • Comfortable working across ML, systems engineering, and real-world toolchains in a fast-moving research environment
  • Above all: demonstrable world-class excellence
