Senior Haskell Engineer (AI Hardware)

I'm working with one of the most exciting AI hardware startups in the industry.

While most companies are building general-purpose AI accelerators, this team is taking a different approach - designing processors built specifically for large language models. Their goal is simple: make LLM training and inference dramatically more efficient by building silicon optimized from the ground up for transformer workloads.

Founded by engineers behind Google PaLM, multiple generations of TPUs, and one of the industry's most successful networking ASIC companies, they're tackling one of the hardest problems in modern computing.

Here's where this role is different.

Instead of designing hardware using traditional hardware languages, they build much of their silicon in Bluespec - a hardware description language rooted in Haskell.

They're looking for exceptional Haskell engineers who want to apply functional programming to one of the most ambitious hardware projects in AI. If you're strong in Haskell, they'll teach you the hardware.

You'll work on

• Building production hardware for compute, memory, and high-speed networking
• Designing reusable hardware components in Bluespec
• Solving complex hardware problems using functional programming
• Developing tooling that improves hardware correctness and performance
• Working alongside engineers who've built Google TPUs, PaLM infrastructure, and world-class networking silicon.

We're looking for engineers who have

• Strong Haskell experience
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals
• Experience building complex production systems
• An interest in systems programming, hardware, or computer architecture
• A desire to learn Bluespec and chip design

Nice to have

• Bluespec
• Rust
• FPGA or ASIC experience
• Compiler engineering
• Functional programming language implementation
