About the job

Simulator Developer

Acceler8 Talent is partnered with a startup building advanced compute platforms designed to support the most demanding AI and machine learning workloads. We are looking for a Simulator Developer with strong software and computer architecture expertise to help model, test, and optimize next-generation hardware. Rust is their primary development language, and this role sits at the intersection of hardware modeling, software engineering, and performance optimization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating and maintaining accurate functional and performance models for complex hardware systems
  • Developing supporting infrastructure and tools to improve correlation, debug efficiency, and validation workflows
  • Working closely with architecture, verification, compiler, and runtime teams to ensure models meet end-user needs
  • Participating in design discussions and contributing to architectural tradeoffs and decisions
  • Identifying and implementing performance optimizations, including the use of GPUs where appropriate

Ideal background:

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Strong software engineering skills with an emphasis on writing efficient, maintainable code
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture fundamentals
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across disciplines
  • Hands-on experience with Rust or equivalent systems-level programming, or prior work on cycle-accurate simulators

Preferred experience:

  • Familiarity with machine learning accelerator architectures
  • Experience benchmarking and tuning performance-critical code
  • Knowledge of processor, memory, and networking architectures
  • Understanding of tradeoffs between power, performance, and cost in hardware design
