About the job

🚀 Founding AI Engineer (Berkley, Onsite)

We’re building the first fully agentic social platform, starting with dating. Our AI understands user preferences, finds compatible matches, and even sets up real-life dates. The product has already gone viral across campuses, facilitated tens of thousands of real dates, and is backed by top-tier VCs and Google.

This is an early role on a <10 person team, working directly with the cofounders.

What you’ll do:

  • Own agentic matchmaking end-to-end: retrieval, reasoning, tool use, safety — from research to production
  • Build and evaluate prompts, models, and policies (offline + online, A/B testing)
  • Design chat agents that feel fast, reliable, and human
  • Build context pipelines (RAG, memory, summarization, grounding)
  • Stand up agent observability: traces, costs, failures, hallucinations
  • Ship internal tools and SDKs used by engineers — and by other AIs

What we’re looking for:

  • 2–4+ years of experience or an exceptional portfolio of LLM/agent products
  • Strong CS fundamentals and clean, maintainable code
  • TypeScript + Python
  • Experience with multiple LLM providers, tool/function calling, and fallbacks
  • Hands-on RAG and prompt engineering with strong intuition for failure modes
  • Comfort defining metrics (accuracy, latency, cost, safety) and iterating quickly
  • Batchelors degree in Computer Science or other related field

Bonus points!!

LangGraph/CrewAI, MCP, Langfuse/Promptfoo/Ragas, vector DBs, guardrails & red-teaming
