Forward Deployed Engineer - San Francisco/New York
An AI strike force spun out of a16z and Apple, working directly with PE firms to deploy real production ML that actually moves revenue are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their team.
What will I be doing?
- Work directly with clients as a forward-deployed engineer, conducting technical discovery sessions, building strong customer relationships, and handling occasional on-site visits
- Take full ownership of end-to-end AI solutions from conception to deployment, building and shipping production LLM systems including agentic workflows, chatbots, and RAG pipelines
- Manage both technical and non-technical stakeholders throughout project lifecycles while ensuring successful deployment with continuous improvement
- Tackle complex engineering challenges like orchestrating long-running agent workflows and designing scalable systems, contributing to an internal platform using modern tech stack (React frontend, Python backend, GCP deployments)
What are we looking for?
- Python expert with production experience at scale (strong typing, Pydantic, FastAPI, Pyright, Ruff, Alembic)
- Proven track record building and shipping production agentic systems, chatbots, and RAG pipelines
- Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and deep understanding of latency, context, pricing, and reliability tradeoffs
- Background as technical or team lead on high-impact projects
- Proficiency with developer productivity tools like Cursor, Claude Code, and OpenAI Codex in production settings
- Experience with embedding models and vector databases (Voyage AI, Weaviate, Pinecone)
- Understanding of ML evaluation processes, non-deterministic testing, and LLM observability
- Ability to manage technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively
