Founding Analog / Mixed-Signal IC Engineer

Acceler8 Talent is partnering with an early-stage semiconductor company developing highly integrated 3D hardware platforms that combine advanced silicon, compound-semiconductor technologies, power delivery, and novel packaging.

The team is building systems for demanding applications across aerospace, communications, high-performance compute, power electronics, and next-generation connectivity. Rather than treating the IC, package, power network, and surrounding hardware as separate problems, the engineering team designs them together as a single system.

They are now looking for a Founding Analog / Mixed-Signal IC Engineer to take ownership of the analog control and power-management silicon at the center of their first products.

The opportunity:

This is a hands-on, end-to-end IC design role with significant architectural ownership. You will be responsible for defining what the silicon needs to do, designing the underlying analog and mixed-signal circuitry, taking designs through tape-out, and validating the resulting hardware in the lab.

Because the products combine multiple semiconductor technologies within advanced packages, you’ll also work closely with engineers across device design, packaging, power, RF, and systems engineering to define the electrical interfaces between each part of the platform.

As one of the earliest analog engineers on the team, you’ll have significant influence over the company’s design methodology, reusable IP, interface standards, and future analog organization.

What you’ll work on

  • Architect and design analog and mixed-signal circuitry for control, monitoring, and power-management functions.
  • Own designs from initial specification through schematic, simulation, layout sign-off, tape-out, and silicon characterization.
  • Develop circuits for functions such as bias generation, sequencing, protection, telemetry, sensing, and power control.
  • Define electrical interfaces between silicon, compound-semiconductor devices, and advanced packaging.
  • Characterize returned silicon in the lab and correlate measured performance against simulation.
  • Use silicon results to improve subsequent revisions and establish reusable design standards.
  • Help build the company’s analog design flow and internal IP library.
  • Work closely with engineers spanning circuits, devices, packaging, RF, thermal, power, and systems.

What they’re looking for

  • M.S. with approximately 5+ years of relevant industry experience, Ph.D. with approximately 2+ years, or equivalent hands-on IC design experience.
  • Multiple successful analog or mixed-signal IC tape-outs in CMOS, BiCMOS, SOI, or a comparable process.
  • Demonstrated ownership of blocks from architecture and schematic design through physical verification and silicon bring-up.
  • Strong experience with Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, Monte Carlo analysis, PVT/corner simulation, DRC/LVS, and parasitic extraction.
  • Hands-on experience in at least two of the following areas:

-Power-management IC design, including LDOs, switching regulators, gate drivers, or bias-generation circuitry.

-High-voltage or compound-semiconductor bias/control.

-Phased-array or beamforming control, including DACs, phase/gain control, calibration, or control interfaces.

-Protection, sequencing, current/temperature sensing, fault detection, or telemetry.

-Mixed-signal circuitry for chiplet, multi-die, interposer-based, or 3D-integrated systems.

  • Familiarity with high-speed chip and system interfaces such as PCIe, UALink, DDR/LPDDR, UCIe, or related standards.
  • Comfortable working directly in the lab and debugging real hardware.
