Principal Customer Engineer

Acceler8 Talent is partnering with a Bay Area-based startup that’s building the critical infrastructure to revolutionize the performance and scalability of next-gen distributed computing systems. Backed by top-tier investors and led by industry veterans, this team is already behind some of the most impactful advancements in today's AI and data center networking.

They’re now looking for a Principal Customer Engineer to join their world-class technical team. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you’ll serve as the technical bridge between engineering and real-world deployment.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Represent and evangelize cutting-edge networking products to enterprise and hyperscale customers
  • Own all aspects of customer engagement (demos, proofs of concept, deployment architecture, hardware/software integration, performance tuning, post-deployment support, etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with internal ASIC, system, and software engineering teams to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions
  • Develop tools, documentation, and presentations that help customers deeply understand and adopt the technology
  • Troubleshoot complex distributed system environments onsite and remotely

This may be a good fit if you have:

  • 5+ years in customer-facing engineering roles, including pre-sales, post-sales, and field deployment
  • 3+ years in ASIC, software, or system-level development
  • Deep familiarity with Data Center, HPC, and AI/ML networking and architectures
  • Knowledge of RDMA, NICs, switches, and kernel/user space networking stacks
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python
  • Experience debugging large-scale cluster deployments
  • Ability to operate confidently across ASIC, system, and application layers
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; comfortable presenting to both engineering and executive audiences
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and communication libraries (NCCL, RCCL) is a plus
