I'm working with a well-funded engineering company building software that helps deploy complex algorithms across heterogeneous compute environments for defence, aerospace, semiconductors, and edge computing.
This role sits within the Modelling & Simulation team, building backend systems that represent complex real-world entities, operational workflows, and decision logic for mission-critical software.
This is not a full-stack role. It's not an AI tooling position.
It's a backend engineering role for someone who enjoys building robust Python systems that model complex domains and operate reliably in production.
You'll work on problems such as:
• Designing backend systems for modelling and simulation platforms
• Building Python services, APIs, and distributed backend systems
• Defining domain models, data contracts, and service boundaries
• Debugging complex production systems across services, databases, and infrastructure
We're looking for engineers who have:
• Strong production Python backend engineering experience
• Experience building modelling, simulation, defence, geospatial, gaming, logistics, planning, or other operationally complex systems
• Owned backend services, APIs, data models, and distributed systems from design through production
• Experience leading technical direction while remaining hands-on
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping reliable production systems
Nice to have:
• Defence, government, or security-cleared experience
• Experience supporting mission-critical or regulated software
• Experience leading small engineering teams
• Exposure to heterogeneous compute or embedded systems
If you're a backend engineer who enjoys solving complex modelling problems and building production systems with real-world impact, I'd love to chat.
