🚀 Generalist Software Engineer (Mid–Staff) | AI Startup | NYC

I’m working with a fast-growing, cash-flow-positive AI company transforming operations across a $700B blue-collar services industry.

Its AI platform automates complex dispatch decisions, matching the right technician to the right opportunity. The product integrates directly with customers’ existing software, enabling rapid adoption without requiring them to change established workflows.

The company has raised $40M from leading venture investors and is building a small, exceptionally talented engineering team.

The Role

You’ll own high-impact product and infrastructure work from design to production, including:

• Building production AI systems that automate complex decisions
• Architecting scalable backend infrastructure
• Working across frontend, backend, AI orchestration, and infrastructure
• Integrating new AI models and tools into customer-facing products
• Working directly with customers to turn operational problems into software
• Shipping quickly and influencing revenue, adoption, and technical direction

Who They’re Looking For

Exceptional generalist engineers with roughly 2–10+ years of experience. They value the quality and impact of your work more than a specific number of years.

Strong profiles may include:

• An outstanding computer science, mathematics, or engineering background from a globally recognised technical university
• Success in international programming, mathematics, or science competitions
• Engineering experience at a top quantitative trading firm
• Experience at a technically demanding startup, scale-up, AI company, or infrastructure team
• Evidence of building ambitious products, systems, or open-source projects
• Strong coding fundamentals and the ability to solve difficult problems from first principles
