🚀 Founding / Senior Software Engineer — Remote (HQ in San Francisco)

We’re hiring a Founding / Senior Software Engineer to join a small, early-stage applied AI research company building systems that automate investment research.

The product takes high-level financial questions, decomposes them into research tasks, writes and executes auditable data-science code, evaluates the results, and turns that work into repeatable investment insight.

This is a highly hands-on role spanning Python backend systems, agents, orchestration, evaluation, traceability, reliability and product architecture.

🔧 What You’ll Work On

• Design agent workflows for planning, task decomposition, tool use and memory

• Build Python backend systems for long-running research workflows

• Develop evaluation systems for answer quality, reasoning reliability and data accuracy

• Improve traceability across agent decisions, generated code, data sources and outputs

• Build safe infrastructure for generating and executing analytical code

• Investigate system-level failure modes across models, agents, tools and data

• Own ambiguous technical problems from architecture through production and iteration

• Work closely with the founders on technical direction and product decisions

🎯 What We’re Looking For

• Strong Python backend or applied-AI experience

• Experience building agent workflows, orchestration, evaluation, traceability or production ML systems

• Clear evidence of substantial end-to-end technical ownership

• Strong systems thinking and ability to operate without mature specifications

• Comfortable remaining deeply hands-on in a very small team

• Evidence of exceptional technical performance through startup delivery, research, open source, competitive programming or standout systems work
