About the job
Senior Software Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Kernel-focused) to join a team designing a hardware platform purpose-built for large language models — optimized specifically for transformer training and inference at massive scale.
Their goal is to deliver the highest performance per dollar for LLMs possible by tightly integrating silicon, systems, and software, they are creating infrastructure that allows startups, research labs, and enterprises to train and run GPT-4–class models far more efficiently than today’s GPU-based solutions.
Backed by over $630M in funding, including a recent $500M Series B from leading investors and strategic partners, the company is rapidly scaling to build the next generation of AI compute infrastructure.
What You’ll Work On
- Designing and optimizing kernels that interface directly with custom AI hardware
- Building high-performance software that powers training and inference for large-scale ML workloads
- Collaborating with ML research and hardware engineering teams to bridge software and silicon
- Improving performance through techniques such as parallelism, SIMD optimization, and low-level systems tuning
- Contributing to the architecture of the software stack supporting next-generation AI compute systems
- Writing production-quality systems code in performance-critical environments
Background We’re Looking For
We’re looking for engineers who have built high-performance systems and enjoy working close to the hardware/software boundary.
Strong experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
- High-performance computing or performance-critical systems programming
- Optimizing software for specialized hardware (GPU, TPU, ASIC, or similar)
- Parallel computing techniques such as SIMD, CUDA, or distributed workloads
- Low-level programming or systems optimization
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience optimizing software for specialized hardware using techniques such as parallelism, SIMD, or GPU acceleration
Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Rust, C, C++, Zig, or Assembly
Location: Mountain View, CA
Hybrid: 3 days onsite (Tuesday–Thursday)
Compensation: anywhere from $120 to $350k based on experience
