About the job
Emulation Engineer – AI Accelerator Silicon (Veloce / FPGA Prototyping)
📍 Location: Remote or Santa Clara, CA
💰 Salary: $220k - $320k base + meaningful equity
A cutting-edge AI hardware company is redefining how AI is powered at the edge, building a breakthrough in-memory compute architecture that enables high-performance, energy-efficient inference. Backed by $165M in total funding (Series B) and operating with a highly selective team of ~60 employees, the company is founded by a world-leading researcher in machine learning hardware and is translating over a decade of pioneering research into production-grade AI acceleration systems.
With a proprietary PCIe-based accelerator card and growing demand across AI, defense, and high-performance computing sectors, the business is scaling rapidly. This is a rare opportunity to join a deeply technical, mission-driven team working at the intersection of silicon, systems, and AI.
The Role
As an Emulation Engineer, you will play a critical role in validating next-generation AI accelerator chips before tape-out—bridging hardware and software to ensure performance, scalability, and reliability.
You will:
- Develop and maintain emulation environments using Siemens Veloce and FPGA prototyping platforms
- Adapt SoC designs for emulation and prototyping workflows
- Build and debug system-level testbenches and validation environments
- Support pre-silicon validation, performance analysis, and early software bring-up
- Collaborate with firmware and runtime teams to enable driver and application testing on emulators
- Work closely with design and verification teams to identify issues and accelerate debug cycles
Why Join?
- Breakthrough technology – In-memory compute architecture solving real AI bottlenecks
- Elite team – Talent from leading technology and semiconductor companies
- Strong momentum – $165M raised and rapidly scaling with strong enterprise demand
- World-class leadership – Founded by a globally recognised expert in ML hardware
- Real-world impact – Building next-gen AI infrastructure beyond the cloud, at the edge
- High ownership – Join a ~60-person team where your impact is immediate and visible
What We’re Looking For
- BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in SoC design or hardware validation
- Hands-on experience with emulation platforms (Veloce, Palladium, or ZeBu)
- Experience with FPGA prototyping systems (HAPS, Protium, or proFPGA)
- Strong understanding of digital design, RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog), and SoC architecture
- Experience with hardware debug tools, waveform viewers, and logic analyzers
- Scripting experience (Python, Tcl, or Perl) for automation and infrastructure
