Senior Staff AI Engineer - Agentic Systems - San Francisco
A fast-growing AI startup is building intelligent agents that automate complex mechanical engineering workflows are looking for a Senior Staff AI Engineer to join their team.
What will I be doing?
- Building and improving AI agents that execute multi-step engineering workflows
- Owning agent architecture, tool use, orchestration, context management, and reliability
- Designing evaluation frameworks focused on workflow completion and token efficiency
- Working directly with users to map real-world workflows into agent capabilities
- Leading a small AI engineering team while remaining hands-on technically
- Shipping production systems used by enterprise customers
What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience building agentic AI systems in production
- Deep understanding of LLM orchestration, tool calling, and multi-step agents
- Strong Python engineering skills and modern LLM tooling experience
- Experience leading technical direction or mentoring engineers
